BIO-DATA OF SHRI SHRINIWAS VASHISHT, IPS

Sh. Shriniwas Vashisht was born and brought up at sonepat. He did his M.A (Public Admn.) from Punjab University, Chandigarh and L.L.B. from Delhi University. He joined Indian Police Service in the year 1981 and was allotted Haryana cadre.

During his career of 31 years in this premier national service, Sh. Vashisht has remained District Superintendent of Police at Jind, Kurukshetra, Narnaul, Gurgaon and Bhiwani. He handled very challenging assignments during this period, including the challenge of Punjab terrorism during his posting in Kurukshetra. Later, he was selected for deputation to the Government of India as Deputy Director in Intelligence Bureau where he handled matters relating to national security. During this stint, he was also a member of the official Indian Delegations going to South Africa and Bangladesh.

He has also worked as Inspector General of Police, Gurgaon Range and Faridabad Range besides Director, Haryana Police Academy where he remained actively involved in training and modernization of Haryana Police. On promotion as Additional Director General Police, he headed the State Vigilance Bureau and launched extensive drives against corruption. He was promoted to the rank of Director General of Police in May, 2012.

Sh. Vashisht has been decorated with Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the year 1999 and President’s Police medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Independence Day, 2008
