Procedure followed in decision – making process

[Section 4(1)(b)(iii)]

All Police officers exercise the powers and duties as prescribed for them under law.  The channels of supervision are such that the SHO, or officer Incharge of Police Stations is responsible for ensuring effective policing and redressal of grievence in his area of jurisdiction.  He is supervised by an officer of the rank of Dy.Supdt. of Police.  The Superintendent of Police is supervisory incharge of a District, whereas range is supervised by an Inspector General of Police.  The Director General of Police exercises overall supervision and control in the State.  This channel also is one through which orders are given and grievances redressad.
